Specialty Grains Incorporated was founded by Mr. John J. Haynes in 1976. By
combining his years of experience in the grain industry with his extensive
knowledge of production and marketing of specialty crops, Mr. Haynes
directed SGI to its current status as a leader in the industry.
SGI’s staff has been involved in travel to the Orient, South America, and
Europe to research the requirements of foreign clients for specialty crops.
They have continued to work closely with the buyers of specialty grains and
have learned to understand their needs. They have further developed the
capability to meet those needs through meticulous attention to quality in
production, processing and shipping of their products.
The processing/warehouse facility at Gibson City, provides the latest in
seed and grain processing as well as grain storage technology. The facility
is equipped to process soybeans for seed or grain using cleaning and sizing
equipment, a gravity table and de-stoners, plus a Harada roll-sorter.
The warehouse facility at Gibson City, which includes temperature and
humidity controlled storage, provides an ideal climate for maintaining the
quality of seed and grain for food grade purposes. |

for human consumption and specialized industrial uses, are the cornerstone
of our business. Through contract growing, field/bin inspections and
state-of-the-art processing and shipping methods, we can achieve the
specifications for varietal purity and physical standards which our clients
demand. Our soybean processing facility at Gibson City, Illinois is equipped
with machinery for cleaning and sizing, gravity tabling, de-stoning and
roll-sorting soybeans, which provides food-grade quality, superior to the
facilities designed primarily for processing seed. Our facility is equipped
to provide container loading for shipments directly from the East Coast,
West Coast, and Gulf sea ports.
